Product Details
Product Features
Featuring the ProX XC-DMX15 15 Ft. High Performance DMX Male 3-Pin to DMX Female 3-Pin Cable, a long-run DMX cable purpose-built for the production environments where distance, interference, and reliability all converge. When your rig spreads across a full stage, when your controller sits at front of house and the first fixture is 15 feet away through a cluster of power runs and wireless gear, this is the cable that holds the data chain together. The ProX XC-DMX15 is not overbuilt for short patch work and not underbuilt for demanding installs. It is the right cable for the runs that require a real 15 feet of dependable, interference-resistant DMX transmission.
Construction and Signal Path
The ProX XC-DMX15 is built on a twisted quad data cable architecture with polyethylene insulation on each conductor. At 15 feet, maintaining the correct nominal characteristic impedance of 110 ohms across the full cable length is what keeps DMX512 data arriving clean at every fixture in the chain. Duofoil shielding covers 100% of the cable, and a tinned copper braid adds 85% coverage on top of that. On a run this length, both shield layers are doing meaningful work. Dimmer packs, wireless receivers, power distribution, and other interference sources common to live production environments all have more cable surface to affect on a 15-foot run, and the dual-layer construction keeps all of it out of the data path.
Conductors and Transfer Quality
Conductors are 22 AWG tinned copper with gold and silver-plated contacts at both connectors. Nominal capacitance from conductor to conductor at 1 kHz is 12.8 pF/ft, with conductor-to-shield capacitance at 23 pF/ft. Nominal propagation velocity is 66%, with a nominal delay of 1.6 nanoseconds per foot. Nominal conductor DC resistance is 24 ohms per 1000 ft at 20 degrees C, and outer shield resistance is 3.4 ohms per 1000 ft under the same conditions. These numbers are consistent across the full ProX DMX cable line and keep the XC-DMX15 well within DMX512 tolerance for chained universe runs.
Jacket and Durability
A flexible PVC outer jacket covers the full 15-foot length and is rated for an operating temperature range of -30 degrees C to +75 degrees C. Maximum recommended current is 2.1 amps per conductor at 25 degrees C. Fifteen feet of cable sees a lot of coiling, uncoiling, stage dragging, and repacking over a touring season, and the jacket is built to handle it without developing kinks, cracks, or stress points that compromise the internal geometry.
Connectors
Both ends use 3-pin XLR-style DMX connectors with all-metal chassis construction. Gold and silver-plated contacts maintain a reliable, low-resistance connection through repeated insertion and removal cycles. The connector build on a cable this length matters because a failing connector at either end of a 15-foot run can drop an entire fixture chain, not just a single link.
Testing and Quality Control
Every ProX XC-DMX15 is individually tested before it ships. Each unit is verified to perform to spec. No batch sampling, no assumptions. When this cable comes out of the bag on a load-in, it works.
Built for Longer Runs, Bigger Rigs
Lighting technicians, touring engineers, production designers, and AV rental companies working mid-to-large scale productions will find the ProX XC-DMX15 is the right choice for runs that need real length without sacrificing the electrical precision DMX512 requires. It covers the distance between console and rig, between truss sections on a wider stage, and between universes in a multi-fixture install.
