Why 5-Pin DMX
The DMX 5-pin standard is specified on a wide range of professional lighting controllers, fixtures, and dimmers used in large-scale productions, broadcast environments, and installations. The two additional conductors in a 5-pin configuration give system designers the flexibility that 3-pin does not provide. If your rig specifies 5-pin, this is the spool to pull from.

DMX Signal Specifications
The DMX signal side of this spool is built around a dual twisted pair data cable construction with four conductors, polyethylene insulation, polyethylene inner jacket, Duofoil® at 100% coverage, and a tinned copper braid shield at 85% coverage. Nominal characteristic impedance is 110 ohms, which is the correct impedance for DMX512 applications. Nominal capacitance conductor to conductor at 1 kHz is 12.8 pF/ft. Nominal velocity of propagation is 66%. Nominal attenuation is 0.6 dB per 100 ft. at 1 MHz. Operating temperature range is -30°C to +75°C.

Power Handling
The power conductor runs at 14 AWG, sized for lighting applications where the load falls within that rating. Tin copper conductors (TC/TCC) run throughout, providing reliable conductivity and oxidation resistance over the life of the cable.

Build and Jacket
The outer jacket is flexible PVC, designed to hold up to repeated coiling, pulling, and storage without cracking or stiffening.

This spool ships with no pre-installed connectors, which is the point. Your shop terminates to whatever your system demands, whether that is XLR5, a specialty connector type, or any other format in your inventory.
